It keeps growing and growing and...

New Growth!!!!! I am entering almost 15 weeks post and had my sew in at about 9 weeks post. I washed my sew in twice and plan on keeping it in for another two or three weeks. I've posted some pics on my sew-in/new growth after a co-wash. Enjoy <3

P.S. Outre Duvessa Remy is not bad at all. It's still holding up and I can bendy roll it with no products and still have my desired look.

Sephora Collection: Makeup Studio Blockbuster

Hey guys. Last week I was browsing through the net and stumbled on Sephora's site. I decided to look further into the site for any cool makeup kits that they may have, particularly because I had grad pics and wanted to do my own makeup as oppose to going to a makeup artist. I wanted a kit that had different shades of eyeshadow, bronzers, and blush. I then came across the Sephora Collection: Makeup Studio Blockbuster which cost about 50 dollars online. The kit has 96 eyeshadows, 84 lipglosses, 3 blushes, 1 bronzer, mascara, 2 pencil liners, 6 liquid liners and about 3 different brush applicators. I thought that was a great deal so the next day I went into Sephora personally at Yorkdale mall and saw the actual kit and thought it was true to the online picture and purchased it (it cost 60 dollars in the store).

I was really excited about my purchase and tried it out, and I will be honest with you the variety and amount of colors and brush applicators overwhelmed me. For some weird reason I felt I was obligated to use everything in the kit on my face which I find funny now. I played around with the kit and started to experiment on my face with it and I must say I LOVE IT! I'm starting to get use to the kit and understand which brushes work well with me and which colors compliment my skin and my outfits. I encourage any lady out there who wants to start applying their own makeup without the hassle of buying individual eyeshadow to invest in this kit. I guarantee you will love it! <3

Moisturizing, Sealing and Maintaining Layers with Weave

New Hair-Do

Hey guys. So I've decided to do a sew-in to my hair because I had grad pics.I'm also using the sew-in as a protective hair style to to protect my hair during the winter months. I'm still continuing on my hair journey with the weave in and I will post a video on how I'm moisturizing and sealing my hair with weave. There are some pics at the bottom of the result of my hair. Enjoy <3

5 Ways I Use Coconut Oil

I remember when I was younger my mom use to always keep a bottle of coconut oil in our hair cabinet and use it in our hair. I would always think to myself "Ewww aren't we suppose to eat coconut? Why is it going in our hair." But when I also think back to those time I remember having long, strong and healthy hair and when I started this hair journey I decided to put coconut oil back into my hair regimen.

Coconut oil is a highly recommended and preferable oil for many of its users because of it's high source of vitamin E which helps hair grow and the antimicrobial agents the oil contains to prevent hair loss. With this in mind here are 5 ways I have incorporated coconut oil into my hair regimen.

1. Hot oil treatment- Before I wash my hair with shampoo I usually take some coconut oil and some home remedy castor oil and heat it. I then distribute the oils into my hair evenly and allow it to sit in my hair for about 30 minutes before washing it out. This procedure is beneficial for my hair because shampoo usually contains sulfate which takes out a lot of natural oils our hair needs therefore leaving our hair feeling dry and brittle. Adding oil to your hair will prevent the shampoo from taking away the oils from your hair.

2. Deep conditioner- I find it kind of sketchy to keep commercialized deep conditioners on my hair for 30 minutes or more when I find ingredients that end in -propyl. If I don't know what that is, I would perfer not to use it. So instead I make my own deep conditoner with avocado, honey and of course coconut oil. A nice blend of this paste feels really nice on my hair and I know what I'm using to soften my hair. Also coconut oil is one of the only oils that can penetrate through your hair shafts so just imagine how rejuvenating it will make your hair feel after a nice deep conditioner?

3. Leave-In Conditioner- In addition to using the Cream of nature lemongrass and rosemary leave in conditioner, I seal the conditoner in with some coconut oil. Sometimes when I clarify my hair I will just use the coconut oil alone to avoid further product buildup in my hair. Coconut oil as a leave in condtioner gives my hair extra slippage that feels very natural and soothing to my hair.

4. Sealant- At first I never really liked using coconut oil as a sealent after I moisturized because it made my hair feel crispy when cool air touched it. Coconut oil has the ability to turn liquid in warmer temperatures and solid in cooler temperatures. However to prevent my hair from feeling so crispy I added a bit of Jamaican black castor oil to it to not only lighten the thickness of castor oil but to lessen the solid texture of coconut oil when my hair touched cooler temperatures. As mentioned before coconut oil penetrates through your hair shafts so in addition to a nice natural moisturizer, coconut oil will heal and repair any damages and lock in moisture in your hair.

5. Styling dress- Coconut oil has the ability to solidify in cooler temperature so if I want to slick my hair back or add an extra sheen to my hair I will apply some coconut oil to my hair. It can be used as a gel too if you apply it to your edges when the oil is in its solid state.

Turban Look

Hey Guys! Since I've been on this hair journey I've been improvising on protective hair styles and hair-do's. But I have to admit sometimes I'm just tired of doing buns and ponytails. I've decided to start using scarfs and making fashionable turbans out of them. These turbans are so useful because firstly the weather is getting colder so I can protect my hair from loosing moisture and secondly I can hide any treatments that I'm doing underneath my hair such as deep conditioning treatments or if my hair is still wet from a wash. I've posted some turban looks I've tried. A couple of them are from when I had braids but they can still be done on your natural hair. Enjoy <3
P.S. When attempting turban styles on natural hair ALWAYS wear a satin wrap underneath so the scarf doesn't deprieve your hair of all it's moisture.

Hair Regimen

Hey Guys. I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while. I've just been busy with school and been overwhelemed with somethings. Also I noticed that I NEED A NEW CAMERA, cause this phone thing aint doing it lol, so I may be a little slow at first in uploading pics specifically on outfits.

Sooooo moving right along I wanted to discuss my hair regimen. I've noticed that a lot of ladies now are transitioning and starting a hair journey and I'm so proud of ya'll *bbm dancing smiley*. A hair journey can be both a fun experience and also a learning experience but if you don't have the right knowledge on how to take care of your hair it can be a disaster. In order to take care of your hair you need a hair regiman. A hair regimen is a daily, weekly, and monthly routine that you do to your hair in order to retain your hair's length and health. My hair regimen goes something like this:

Seal and moisturize hair daily
Co-wash hair 1x a week
Shampoo hair 1x a week
Deep condition hair 1x per week
Scalp treatment every other day
Green house effect everyother day I don't scalp treat my hair
Protein treatment 1x per month
Dust/trim ends every 1 to 2 months (my ends are so hard thats why I do that so often)
Perm every 16 weeks

Products I use in my hair
Moisturizer: Shea Butter
Sealant and scalp treatment: Jamaican Black Castor Oil mixed with Hollywood castor oil
Conditioner: Herbal Essence Hydralicious Conditioner and/or All Ways Natural Conditioner
Leave-in conditioner: Creame of Nature rosemary and lemongrass leave-in
Shampoo: All Ways Natural Moisturizing Shampoo
Deep Conditioner: Avacado, honey and coconut oil mix
Protein treatment: Egg and mayo mix
Perm: still havent looked into one yet but it will be a Lye relaxer

How I protect my Hair
I sleep with a silk wrap on to keep in the moisture
I TRY my best to finger comb my hair and use a wide tooth comb only on wash days
I wear usually buns, ponytails or twistouts
I braid, twist or bantu knot my hair every night
I give myself scalp messages if I EVER try and play around with my ends lol
I take a multivitamin daily
I TRY and excercise at least once a week
Drink lots of water and green tea
I only air dry my hair with the scarf method
I flat iron if I need a length check which is once a month

And VOILA! There you have it! My Hair Journey Regiman<3

My Hair Journey

So I decided that I wanted to go on a hair journey after hearing and seeing the benefits of going on this journey. A hair journey is basically taking care of your natural hair and give your hair a bit of TLC with mostly natural products. To tell you the truth I LOVE this journey that I'm on. I've learned to embrace the kinks in my hair, appreciate my length and fullness of my hair. I've also learned that there are so many styles to do with your natural hair and that one's hair is a reflection of how they take care of their body ie. excercising, eating properly and so on. I started this journey on Aug 30th, 2011 and am hoping and praying that in a years time my hair grows to bra strap (it is currently sitting a little past shoulder length). I've posted some pics on my current hair lengths and some cute natural hair styles that I have been able to do. Enjoy. Patience <3
Yellow line is the hairlength I would like to reach by next year August.
